How many Cockerels do you see?

Oh gosh, I walked into that one. No, it was probably about the absolute best kind of tumor and it was probably about the best outcome one could hope for. Its dead and stable and probably wont come back but we check it every year to make sure its staying still now. However my brain took some hits and so there is some left over disfunctions. No big deal, Im good just a little more dumb I guess LOL, God is good. Its been almost 7 years now since treatment. I only mentioned to qualify my confusion. 😆

Oh that is great then! sorry for putting you on the spot like that  .

Nah, its fine it was a right sided unilateral vestibular schwannoma. I went through Radiation treatment(Gamma Knife) in 2018. It was very difficult... it was the most difficult thing I have ever been through. The radiation to the skull is rough, very rough. I was very sick and my brain was scrambled for a few years. Im much better and seem to be recovering well. Lost half my hearing and lost my balance. All that is destroyed now, but Im not dead! So life is good and it is better with chickens, I must say 😁

We are just here for a minute, the take away is life is fleeting and short so live it with purpose and meaning 🥰

Great attitude! Wow, what an experience, whew! Life is MUCH better with chickens, and even "more better" with BYC, so welcome! :frow Lucky you, to get 7 pullets out of 7 birds (I've recently discovered I've ended up with 5 pullets out of 15, lol but that's a story for another day). Your girls are very pretty. I have some Prairie Bluebells, either 5 or 6, I forget - and they do lay the prettiest blue eggs you ever did see! Not like regular EE, which can lay anything from greenish to pink, but generally not a beautiful crystal blue like the Bluebells. You're gonna love 'em! ❤️ Nice to meet you!

TY, Yeah, we bought 6 girls and one boy. They added 2 extra girls to mke sure they could keep eachother warmand one died the first day and we eneded up giving the cockerel away, as mentionedhe was abusive from the start. So I would say thats pretty good sexing. They usuually dont get that correct. There is usually always an extra roo or two it sounds like from the hatcheries. Its not a perfect science I guess 😃. They are pretty but I would probably find any chickens beautiful, They are neat creatures for sure. When I first built my coop I thought I would fit a dozen birds in it. UHM, NO! 12 birds is way too many for that space. I migyt be able to bit 2 more at the most, so probably just one more whenever we add a rooster. Ill have to build them another roost house attached or something to fit more birds. I would rather them be comfortable and happy than not. Sure we want the eggs but we also want our birds as pets. Whenever they stop laying eggs, will will move them to a retirement home without nesting boxes. We wont be eating our pets. If we want to eat bird, we will eat birds we dont know! Thats kinda what we decided. We wont treat them like egg factories, we will just let them lay what they are gonna lay, naturally and let them retire into their golden years, if something else doesnt eat them first? 🫢🫣😬🥰
