I understand the kids and myself wanting to keep some beautiful Brahma/americana roos that our Buff Orphington set on, hatched and mothered as they turned into beautiful colorful teenagers. I had to share with my 10-year-old granddaughter that we didn’t need to keep all the roos. She had already noticed the adult roo mounting Chickens and she was concerned about it (I did explain that’s how the eggs get fertilized and you get baby chicks ). I said well we don’t need the rest of them to grow up and do that and they’re so beautiful let’s share them with friends. So we found others in the neighborhood who wanted to have a roo. That's what we have. I'd be fine with finding the roos homes, but my kids don't know the reality of the situation and want to keep all, Lol. Plus, I don't know how long roos live. My adult roo is 5 years old and I think what if something happened to him...would be nice to have his son(s). I might just have to do the bachelor pad for the 2 young cockerels.
