Hi guys. Anyone with opinions on how many roosters can be kept if you free range? My coop is quite large, its 20x16. I have 16 birds total.8 are standards, I know that 2 of those are roosters (they were packing peanuts) the other 6 are supposed to be pullets but one is definitely showing signs of being a rooster. The other 8 are silkie bantams, straight run. I would love to keep them all, but I need to know what other people's experiences are with this. Thanks!!!!!!!!

There should only be 1 Roo per 10-15 hens. Looks like you better get more hens.

We had two standard roosters in with 20 hens and didn't have a problem Chick Magnet was the head rooster and the younger one Romeo just kept to himself but all of a sudden this spring Romeo took down Chick and we had to separate them after 1 1/2 years. But with the bantams a friend of DH gave us his birds and he has 5 roosters and 5 hens and they all seem to get along fine. Every once in a while one gets testy but on the whole they are fine. Of course the banties free range at least most of them some of the roosters tend to stay in the pen. Hope this helps
