how many snakes have you seen this summer?

Well, early in the season, I found a nest of baby black snakes. and then a couple of weeks ago, I went to feed the chickens, I opened the door to the shop where their food is, I stepped inside, got a cup of food, turned around to one of my rir flying in my face to get the food, I stepped back a step and looked down, and directly next to my flip flopped foot, was a 3 ft long copper head. Too close of a call for me... Moral of the story, always wear boots in the backyard.

NOT A ONE!!! YAY!! I have to say I'm quite surprised too 'cause if you saw where I live, you'd be surprised! I saw more snakes in the city where I lived in NY than here and I'm surrounded by woods. And I live INSIDE 35 acres of woods.

I know they're out there. I just haven't seen them!! LOL (Nor do I want to!)

Quite a few!
Garter snakes all the time, a black racer once, and we have a huge female gray rat snake that I see about once a week around the house. I love her!
Earlier this summer, DBF was digging a trench and unearthed some snake eggs. The venomous guys around here are all live-bearers, so we know they're friendly. I moved the whole clutch to a flowerpot on the porch, and based on candling, they are due to hatch any day now!
I know I'm in the minority here, but I love snakes! I will kill the venomous guys if they're near the house, but the others are friends

Bayouchica, those shots are just amazing!! If it had been me, they would have been taken with a Hubble-telescope zoom lens.....

( mom's friend owns a petstore), but I haven't seen any wild ones yet. Usually see some garter snakes, but I think the neighborhood cats got them.

One Black snake and one dead snake. If I had my way, both would be dead. Hate em, scared to death of them and want nothing to do with them!

There is one that hangs out around the hose and the shed. I know it isn't dangerous snake- it just likes to startle me when I am getting the birds water.

Then there is this one.. I am guessing it is (was) a back snake or rat snake. IN the coop.. IN the nestbox. NOT cool!!
