How many sq. ft. in the coop per large fowl chick at 5 weeks?
I am working on a design for breeding coops. Each one will accommodate 1 large fowl hen and her chicks.
I plan on the chicks leaving the coop and adding the yard to their living space at 5 weeks. I need to now how much sq. ft. per chick in the coop because my Light Sussex hens will be hatching early (Jan. Feb. Mar.) and the chicks will need to live inside until 5 weeks old.
Thanks,
Karen

For grown chickens (in this case mom) allow 4 sq feet indoor (coop) and outside 10 sq feet space and for chicks brooder space:

up to 2 weeks: 0.5 sq ft per chick
2-4 weeks: 1 sq ft per chick
4-8 weeks: 2.5 sq ft per chick
over 8 weeks: 4 sq ft per chick
