How many standard eggs can you hatch under a silkie at one time?

Hi. I want to ask for a little guidance on the hatching eggs please. I received more eggs then I ordered from AlchimistFarms. I still tried to put them all under my broody silkie. Sadly they don’t all fit. I ordered an incubator that will be here tomorrow. I believe it’s recommended to have the brooder going for 48hrs before putting eggs in. Do you think my eggs will be ok? I put them under my silkie on Friday April 22nd and don’t foresee being able to move some until Thursday sometime. Any advice?

As many as she can shove under herself without them falling out. How many she can fit often depends on how flat the Silkie sits. I’ve had Silkies that can only do 2-3 because they don’t sit flat enough.

I realised I never answered your questions in your original post (sorry about that).

There is no guarantee that they’ll all hatch, but the best thing to do is leave them under her until you can get the incubator all set up and going.
