A little late to the discussion.....just set 7 eggs in my Mini Advance. Temperature is staying perfectly steady using an independent thermometer and the digital one. I set the eggs to roll on #9 angle setting as my eggs are quite large, every 180 mins. which is every 3 hours. This moves them 8 times a day, which I hope is plenty. The turner is working fine. I started out with one water well full and found the humidity went up to 70%! As it's the surface area that is important, I removed most of the water just leaving a couple of drops in the well and it still registered 60%. I removed ALL the water....not a drop in there, and it has now settled to a nice 40%, which it seems to be maintaining.
The room temp is fluctuating a little between 67-70F, but I have a reptile heat lamp which I am putting in the vicinity at night to try and maintain the 70F. We live in the soggy Pacific Northwest, so humidity tends to be rather high, possibly why I don't need any water in the 'bator?
I am concerned because I kept removing the lid to let the humidity out, which then dropped the temp about 3F each time, but it went back up to 99.5F within a minute...I might have messed up the eggs! I hope not! This is my first time....I was up until 3:30AM stressing about the humidity levels! Thanks to all of you who replied to my pleas for help last night!
So we're on Day 2 and counting
Hatch date should be April 14th!
