My runners will be two years old this spring. They've been great little egg layers. How many years do they lay reliably? At what age does the laying start to diminish, and when should I start to restock my duck supply (ie, looking for an excuse to get more baby ducks)?

I have an almost 8 year old Cayuga who still lays 3 times a week. We rescued her in November and we were told that she still layed maybe once a month but since moving here and getting decent care and food she's laying now 3 times a week and alot more active than she was.

Always be restocking, of course! The best part of having ducks is the ducklings, so I personally feel the need to constantly restock. LOL.

My Runners usually begin to slowly lay less starting at about 5-6 years old. The continue to lay though for many, many years just gradually laying less and less. Most of my birds have continued to lay sporadically here and there until they are very old (10+ years).
