I was wondering if it is ok to put just one egg under a broody hen? I have never hatched eggs before but I was just wondering.

It is ok unless you’re going to take the chick and raise it in a brooder... I would personally do two just in case... but be prepared to get a rooster or two. You need to have a plan for what you do with them if that happens.I was wondering if it is ok to put just one egg under a broody hen? I have never hatched eggs before but I was just wondering.
Ok thank you!It is ok unless you’re going to take the chick and raise it in a brooder... I would personally do two just in case... but be prepared to get a rooster or two. You need to have a plan for what you do with them if that happens.
Just curious, why do you only want to put one egg under her?
Chicken math at it's finest. The hardest lesson to learn is buying a coop substantially bigger than you think you need. I've been in the same boat as you!Our chicken coop is already almost at max capacity so I don’t want them to get crowded even though it would just be a silkie. Our coop fits six chickens and we have 4 Ameraucanas and 2 silkies and I have always wanted to hatch a silkie especially because we got a boy and a girl silkie
