Depends why you ask. Are you in the city? Is there a limit by your county? They can all be pets, or like some of us that have big layer flocks and meat bird flocks too just a few are pets.

I guess what I mean is how many chickens do YOU have as pets. I myself have 4 now.........

Well, I have between 15 and 30 pet chickens but they often get demoted from pet status.

We currently have 3 adults and 16 chicks. One of them is safe from the stewpot ever (my silkie boy, he's 100% pet, he's not *really* a chicken..

) The others I think of as pets I might eat (roos particularly).

Right now we are happily owned by 17 hens and 1 roo all are pets and plan to add to the family in the spring ( after reading everyone here say the more the better )

Depends how big your hallway is. If you keep them outside, I don't consider them pets. Right now I have 6 hallway chooks, with my broody silkie Miss Ohio setting on 5 eggs. If they all hatch I'm in big trouble.
