How messy are goslings?

I’m have 2 as well and they’re awful. I brooded them with chicks and they created such a sloshy mess that my chicks ended up with cocci. They’re now brooded separately in an XL dog cage and they’re still awful I won’t personally raise gosling again i’ll let my goose do it think next time. I have to chance them roughly every 2 days. My 30+ chicks I only have to do once a week.

I Agree With chickenenthusiasts5698 Goslings Are Absolute Pigs, They Are Extremely Messy. Thank God They Are Cute But They Are Messy Especially With Their Water ….
My 2 goslings go through a gallon of water a day!! Sure they drink some of it but you want to know where the rest goes? Into their brooder so they can make an absolute slosh pit....And the smell is unlike anything chickens have ever smelt like. :sick But I absolutely adore my goslings they’re like little dogs.:loveI don’t have any regrets raising them I just wouldn’t want to brood them again.

Here’s my babies. I’d say go for it if you have enough time to spend cleaning brooders. They’re absolutely worth it.

What beautiful babies!!

They are messy but absolutely worth it! Once they're old enough to distinguish food from bedding..around 2 weeks...the horse stall pine pellets or corn cob pellets work really well.

Goslings are only slightly less messy than adult geese. If possible, let the adults raise them and make sure they have a large outside area to graze in. I love our 7 Toulouse geese almost as much as I want to just "kill" them at times. They are beautiful birds but during their mating season (which is just ending here) they are mean and attack each other mercilessly.

UH oh! Thanks for the replies! These are to be a companion for my single female so I will be raising them myself. Didn't think about the smell....was going to do it in my studio. Perhaps I should opt for 2......

All waterfowl are ridiculously messy!
At least 50% of their water ends up in their bedding no matter what kind of water dish contraption you devise to keep them out of it. They get wet food everywhere, so the brooder smells more like a brewery. Depending on brooder size and where is is, it will need to be cleaned every 2 days or so. “Poop like a goose” isn’t a saying that came from nowhere...

But, they are exceptionally sweet, and personable, and memorably entertaining. I absolutely love my goslings (and ducklings) so the mess is tolerable for me. If you’re already getting 2, and you want 4, you might as well just got for it because they’ll be messy regardless lol.

I am brooding two goslings with 2 ducks in a spare bathtub inside. They are about two weeks old and we have had them for 10 days. I think the ducks are worse than the geese. Honestly our geese do not like water. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We have let them swim in another bath and the ducks LOVE it but geese want to get out right away. I clean the tub everyday and the only part wet is the pine shavings around the water. I clean the wet stuff out every day and change the whole thing every 3 days. From what I heard we were NOT looking forward to the mess BUT it has not been bad IMO and we are neat freaks especially when it comes to animals in the home. I am actually surprise my husband allowed it. Lol.
For their water I use a jug and cut a hole in the side so they can drink and are not trying to climb into their water. I check and change their water about 5 times a day. This seems to help with the mess. We also let them swim in a warm bath every couple days.
