I have no idea, but it's 100's (maybe thousands) of tons when you figure in the grass the cow herd consumes during the grazing season and then all the big round bales and silage they eat over the winter....then there's my chickens, ducks and cats and dogs. It's a lot that's all I know
250 pounds dog food a month
80 pounds cat food a month
100 pounds pig chow a month
2000 pounds min bagged chicken feed assorted from scratch to game bird feed
3 55 gallon barrels of feed from the mill that goes into out free range feeder
2 55 gallon barrels of goat feed
It has been worse this year because of the drought, most all of my birds free-range and there hasn't been anything to eat. The same with the goats. We dont usually feed them but we have been buying round bales which are getting so hard to find and goat feed.
absolutely no idea in total, but am forever being whined at about the price of food at the moment by the power of attorney who is in charge of money.
lottie [mine,a kitteh] is fed on whiskas which isnt expensive, and our chickens pellets are paid for by the owner of the organisation/and residential home am living in.
have started feeding a lovely ferral older kitten who has moved in our garden,as all sanctuaries are fully booked for weeks,we cant give her enough attention if she is on our farm, and have gotten whinged at for doing that-buying her just kitte cat, nothing expensive, fingers crossed have found a place for her this week.
moving to a different place within a year as it means getting more money,so will be getting more chickens and hopefuly lottie will be able to have classier food than whiskas.
Just picked up 3 ton of hay yesterday.
I ran out of room. Still got a quarter of the 20 ft. trailer loaded and tarped off yet. I will get another ton of alfalfa before it get too cold yet.
I think I go through almost 200 lbs of chicken feed per month, less than 50 lbs of cattle feed, probably 4 bales of hay, about 4 lbs of cat food, maybe 20 lbs of dog food & about 60-100 rodents. But that's just a rough guess and that's only during the spring & summer. During the winter, of course, the only thing that wont go up will be the snake food...
I don't even want to think about attaching a $ amount to it all!
