How much can a chicken's crop hold?

For a heavy breed, like my Sussex mix? Just a matter of curiosity.

My real "foodies" probably can hold half a cup. Usually it's more like a quarter cup, though.

That sounds very reasonable. An acquaintance said I should check their crops frequently, but they always act so healthy that I rarely do.
