How much do a dozen supermarket eggs go for in your area?

The last time I looked the ex jumbo that you pick your own goes for $3.39, and they have many double yolks. but is really high.

I will stick to my free ones, I know we pay for upkeep but we don't seem to mind do we?

It is plum ridiculous what we are paying for these things. Makes me miss the days of the dairy on the farm. If we wanted milk we just went down to the milkbarn and scooped us out a cold pitcher. Those were the days!!!
Since I've put infrared lights in for warmth for my babes...all 6 girls are laying. 1/2 doz. eggs a day... ain't bad in my book.

I was told at the grocery store last week that eggs are high not because of the price of corn or transportation. It is because the government changed the regulations on how poultry are raised. Anyone else hear this?

I didn't hear anything about Gov't regulations, but I heard that the rising cost of corn is affecting the price of every type of product from animals that eat corn. I've also heard that corn prices have gone up because of the demand of ethanol gas production, but I'm not too sure I believe that. I'm thinking that anything that has to be transported will be affected by high gas prices.

About $1.99 here. I charge $2 for mine so people will buy from me instead of supporting factory farms. I have 3 regular customers...7 dozen a week, not a lot but I can't help but feel that I'm helping a bit. Edited to add: My eggs are large-extra large on my scale. People love it when they crack open a double yolker.

Organic here sell for about $3 or more.

Why does the store charge more for brown eggs??? Should I charge more for blue???
