How much do you all sell your eggs for?

we have been charging $3 for the last couple 2 years but now charge all new customers 3.50. this summer when we don't have any surplus we'll go to 3.50 for everyone. I noticed that the farmers market and grocery are starting to sell for nearly $4 for FREE RANGE eggs.

As for free egg cartons...go to freecycle.com and offer to help people recycle their egg cartons. you can offer to pick up within a certain distance if they have 10 or more cartons. also right now after Easter ask everyone at church and work to save their egg cartons for you. Most everyone I ask is happy to help.

I do the same thing! Most people laugh and find it very funny!

I was selling mine for $3.00 a dozen but we have a lot of people around here who have fallen on hard times an d I have lowered my price to $2.00 a dozen. I have 1 lady who drives 45 minutes to get here and she buys 10 dozen every 2 months! I am not looking to make money off my laying hens, I am happy to make enough to cover their feed cost. Currently I only need to sell 6 dozen a week to do so. I have already informed my customers that they will go back up to $3.00 a dozen come fall.

Hubby sells at work for $1.50 a dozen but we get cartons back from those customers plus other things like a break on meat. Customers raise cows here. The ones we sell at our privet club we sell for $2 a dozen. That is the going price for much of the state. I know local farmers market sells for $3 and they do not sell much at that price. Economy is bad here but we are not having any problems selling eggs.

That's what I did too! My husband thought I was crazy, but it works! I gave some eggs to my son's bus driver and she now buys 2 dozen a week off of me. She'll buy 3 dozen when I have more eggs. I did the same thing for another lady, and now she's buying them from me also.

Yep it really does work! They get to compare the tasty farm fresh eggs to the anemic eggs from the store and they are hooked!
