How Much Do You Sale Or Trade Eggs For????

I'm in Eastern Iowa and sell my brown / non-organic / from pasture raised chickens/ eggs at the local Farmers Market for $3.50 a dozen. I can't keep up with the demand, and usually have all eggs pre-ordered before I even head to market.

Over the summer at a different market, I would trade eggs for produce or other items. Everybody I traded with agreed dollar for dollar. If I wanted a $7.00 watermelon, it cost me 2 dozen eggs. Occasionally we'd pay a difference in cash, but could usually get a fair trade by throwing in an extra tomato or a couple of green onions. Horse trading is one of my favorite things about selling at Farmers Market!!

I just went from selling mine from a dollar a dz, with them supplying the cartons to 1.50 a dz. So far no one has complained. I do explain what a bag of feed costs me, and let them know if they don't want to pay that much , it don't affend me any. I don't sell my Sunday eggs though, I have a few people at my church that is having a rough time in their life, and I give them a dz a week at no cost. One lady is battling cancer and one of my favorite preachers had a transplant a few yrs ago, and he just loves the eggs. I wouldn't feel right about charging them, so Sundays eggs are set aside. I do trade with my cousin in the summer for her extra garden veggies, for fresh eggs. That works out good. Oh I'm in KY.

$2 per half dozen here in NorCal. Store is $3.85, so my free-range eggs are only a touch more and SO much better!!

i sell mine for 2$ a dozen dont make a liveing off my hens just do it for a fun hobby i love it lots of fun. chickens are cute, funny, and pretty and the eggs are good better than the store eggs:D

Considering mine are all laid within a week of when they're sold, organic and free range, $4 a dozen. Same as what Trader Joe's sells their's for.

Since we don't get a ton of eggs (ie dozen to 18 eggs a day), it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to sell them. Instead, we've worked out trades.

Once a week I take 3 dozen down the road to exchange for 2 gallons of fresh, raw milk and two dozen to a local bakery who trades for 3 or 4 loaves of fresh bread. These trades help offset our food cost much more then I would typically get for selling them in our area.

I'm hatching away, so we're going to have more eggs soon. I just keep asking around and hopefully will find another good exchange for the extras we can't eat.
