Hey guys, a batch of my quail are just reaching maturity, and I'm having a hard time telling who is and is not a boy. I fear like 3 or 4 out of a batch of 5 may have been boys. 1 is for sure, he is crowing and was getting aggresive.
But now I have one more who's being aggressive. It doesn't have *much* foam, and isn't crowing...but there is a little foam.
Should I assume this small amount is perhaps from being bred? Or is this just early, adolescent type foam?
The one male I'm sure of from that batch got moody and aggressive when he didn't have much foam yet, and hadn't started crowing. I guess a bit like a teenager boy.
My question is: is a "little" foam sometimes due to breeding? Or should I assume any foam at all is a sign it's probably a male? (I have three in "time out" right now, awaiting a judgement.)
Thanks!
