Sooo true! LOL"Need" is an interesting concept. You may find that you need more than chicks will eat. They'll scratch in it and poo in it and fling it all over the place. I think I swept up and threw out at least 3 times what went in them.
do you think thats why they eats super fast and fight when i feed them ( by fight i mean they want to eat more than the other)If they finish the food in 5 minutes it was not enough food.
Chickens don't eat "meals" they are more of a grazer/all day nibbler.

If they are very hungry, they would fight over food. One might try to keep the other from eating.do you think thats why they eats super fast and fight when i feed them ( by fight i mean they want to eat more than the other)
The egg production will suffer without enough food. What is the reason you restrict the food?no not yet
i just put out 3 CUPS of layer pellets in the feeder and they ATE ALL OF IT is that good or badThe egg production will suffer without enough food. What is the reason you restrict the food?
okay i just went to check on them and there was probably about a cup of feed left they stopped eating and went to get wateri just put out 3 CUPS of layer pellets in the feeder and they ATE ALL OF IT is that good or bad
Sounds like they are very hungry. Like 21 Hens said, they will gorge themselves because they are afraid they will not get enough food. They are old enough to start laying, but you said that they are not laying. Are you feeding them layer pellets all the time? For how long?i just put out 3 CUPS of layer pellets in the feeder and they ATE ALL OF IT is that good or bad
