Be careful of "deals". There are a lot of cheap low-end kennel panels being sold these days that won't keep a dog in OR out if it actually wants to go thru them. Red flags are thin-gauge wire and poor quality connections (ideally you want bolt-thru not clip type fittings for the stretcher bars)

A deal is not a deal if it ends up not giving you the protection you wanted.

We went with heavy duty dog kennel panels that can be configured different ways. I looked on craigslist for 2 months before we found this set and it was a really good deal. There are 3 12 ft panels and 4 6ft panels for $150 The cool thing is I can use the panels as roof sections or wall sections, and one panel has a gate in it.

Here is the warning though. A six-seven week old LF chicken can still fit THROUGH the fence unless there is smaller fencing or something blocking the large holes of the chain link. I learned this the hard way. Now I have a solution up about 2 feet and have had no escapees. I am happy though with the heavy duty panels I feel like they are quite secure. Good luck.

If you are keeping all 30 of your birds and do not free range, you'd want a run that gives about 300 sq. ft, whatever arrangement could give you that...maybe a 20 x 15??? Maybe you could find two used kennels on CL, and put them together??? Or use welded wire and wooden posts??

We picked up 3 large dog kennels from Tractor Supply and paid $125.00 for each of them. It has been the best idea for us.

thats cool i have a little while they are all chicks still well i might buy two or three new dog kennels to put them in dont know yet got to see what i can aford first
