How much medicine powder to use?

I've been using 1/2 tsp per gallon when I use the Duramycin so it looks like light lemonade- but I'm sure it doesn't taste like it…

My birds went through fowl pox when they were about 5 months old, I think- it did take about a month or so for them to heal from all the little scabs and marks, but you could never tell they had it. I'm sure mine had the dry version, so there weren't complications… I would use the iodine solution on your birds and keep up the antibiotics to prevent secondary infection as suggested, and hang in there.

Sigh... it's just so frustrating... I was getting especially worried when I didn't see them drink. I know they were because it was the only water avaialable and it was so hot, but they were probably doing so reluctantly. I think tomorrow I'll take a sip and see what it tastes like. This way I know for sure if my birds were avoiding it because it tasted bad or what.

They are small so I don't think they need a lot.
You can sprinkle a little on their food. I thought they weren't getting it also, in the water; so I shredded damp spinach and spinkled a little on that. You can try with their favorite treat.

OMG that stuff tastes AWFUL!!!! Imagine crushing up some tylenol or advil then licking the powder! EWWW!!!

Anyway, I went and bought 3 one gallon water jugs. In one I put half a tsp of duramycin, in 1 I put half a tsp of vitamin/electrolyte powder and in one I put a few tsps of sugar. I gave my fuzzballs a mix of half sugar water half vitamin water and they drank it so eagerly! I didnt get out to the pen to change their water but I will do that tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Considering the reaction my babies had though, I'm guessing I was using too much and that stuff tasted really bad and they didn't want to drink it.
