and to your other question - yes hatch all year. There is a good chance ill Have the contracts for at least one feed store here to supply chicks this spring.

Send them to the coop with a heat lamp. Once they hatch they go to a box in the house. Day 2 they get kicked down to 80% day 4 they go to room temp and day 5 they go outside with a heat lamp.

If you hatch out 400 eggs a month where do u get rid of all thoes chicks? Do you have a web site? How much do u sell them for an is that all profit? Oh and how do you get 400 eggs a month with 7layers?

No Lisa I want a cold hardy chick. I mean days. Out of the last 100 chicks ive hatched only one has died. If i have a weaker chick I keep them warmer a little longer. My hen doesnt keep her chicks at 100* so why should I. Its been in the mid 30s at night here the last couple nights. The chicks have done fine with it. FWIW they still are not fully feathered. Room temp is about 68*
Craigslist and word of mouth gets my name out. I also have a no rooster policy. If you get a rooster when you buy my chicks I will trade you two new chicks of my choice. Works great for the people in the city.

I can hatch 400. I dont but im capable of it. Ive been hatching about 30 - 80 a month the last couple months. I buy most of my eggs.
