I'm getting a few pigeons in a couple weeks or so and I'm wondering what a good rule of thumb is for pigeon space? I have a 4x4 foot coop that's about 7 feet tall and a attached pen that's 20x20 feet that's 6 feet tall,so there's a lot of room for them. How many do you think I can fit in there? Thanks in advance

i would say 4 to 6 for a coop 4x4 . that is if your attached pen is a wired in fly pen because pigeon spend a lot of there time in side at least mine do .they all roost in side at night and they all seem to need there own spot.

Yes, its the inside space that is important... as that is where they will roost and nest.

Maybe you can convert some of your outside flight into semi indoor set up with nest boxes.. you will have to cover the roof and back.. maybe 2 sides in winter. If you did that you could have lots in there.

Start with few pair of flying types each, usually starting in only one flying and one fancy to see how you love. otherwise just one pair of fancy breeds each, as may find like a lot more or other breeds you love more.
