How much salt is too much?

I get food donations all the time at my school--most recently a giant bag of stale pretzels. I'd really like to give this to my 4 hens, but I'm worried about all the salt. Can I give them a handful a day? Maybe I should leach them in water first to flush out the salt?

I would be leary of pretzels. They are loaded with salt. I think if you tried to wash them it would just dissolve the salt and it would absorb it in the pretzel. I avoid salt as much as possible. We hardly use salt when we cook so we can feed leftovers. Good Luck
