hello every

Am looking at getting some bobwhite quail next fall (this spring and summer building the pen/flight aviary) the only reason am looking at getting bobwhite is that every other quail is illegal in my province and turns out bobwhite is the only one allowed with out a permit needed. (i phoned my CO and they told me the law states only bobwhite quail can be raised) but am looking at seeing how many square feet they need per bird i want a lot of room for them (i plan on only keeping the females or hens for the eggs and then butchering the males after 16 weeks or so) i also plan to raise chuckars (and the guy who sells quail also sells chuckars) can these two birds be raised together? any tips would be helpful.

Quail and chukar are related, and bobwhite quail are fairly large, If you plan on keeping them together they will need a fairly large avairy, to avoid any fights. If they are raised together they will most likely passive to each other. There will be the ocassional scrap, over a tasty treat, but apart from that they should be fine together.
