I've never hatched in an incubator before, so I dont know whats normal. Sorry, this has probably been asked a million times before, but,
How long is too long between first pip and zip? My 2 pipped their 1st tiny hole at 11pm last night, and havent made much progress since. The hole is a tiny bit bigger, not much though.
I'm not seeing as much rocking, nor hearing as much peeping as I was last night. PLEASE tell me they take a break after pipping and will be ok!! Temp 99.5, humid 58.8, LG forced air bator-

Thanks! (Any advice is very welcome!)

Hatching is very tiring - both for chick and human

It can take over 24 hours from first pip to zip. Chicks are working and resting. Sometimes I talk to them if I am worried - talk thru the bator - and the chicks will peep or rock in answer.

They take a break! They should be out within 24 hours, so you have plenty of time to pace

Thank goodness! I am a nervous wreck right now!!

Keep runnin' back to my room to check, and I'm getting a stiff neck from laying my ear on the bator to hear any peeping! I feel like a mini labor and delivery nurse! Cant wait to show the kids hatching chicks, theyre so excited!

Thanks everyone, I was starting to panic...feel much calmer now
