How much time do you spend with your flock?

It probably averages out to the lower end of half an hour. They just don't need that much attention most of the time. I like to go hang out with them, so they stay comfortable around me.

If we're counting time spent watching them, then the average is higher.

Yes, my chickens do tend to be more calm around me when I spend more time with them.

Do any of you feed special treats or do anything out of your way to bond more closely with them?

Mine get scratch 2x a day so I can look them all over, and occasional scraps but I'm not looking to get real close, though some are just in my face anyways.

Some days it's less than 30 minutes, but on a day I'm at home or doing an Instagram photo shoot it can be a few hours. I do have my morning ritual of coffee with the chickens where I sit with them in the chair I keep in the run while they eat breakfast, and I repeat that at dinner if I'm not at work. On a bad day they may only see me at dawn and after dusk, but I really enjoy just hanging out with the gang and watching their antics.

Aww, that sounds great! What a great way to start of your day! As I've said countless times, watching chickens can be so entertaining.

That's great! You can often get more entertainment from watching your chickens for a few minutes than you can from watching TV!

That is why I built my screened-in run with a chicken observation deck. No coop or chicks yet, but this is what my set up will be. The coop will be marvelous when I finalize the design. --BB
