My 15-ish week old RIRxWhite Rock rooster's comb tips turn purple when he gets flustered, which is pretty much anytime I'm in the run with the chickens now. He has pecked me hard, once, and drops his wing and stomps his feet frequently. He also pinches the pullet's necks pretty hard and has nipped off a section of comb on one, and gashed another. He used to eat from my hand and jump up in my lap. I'm so sad that he's maturing in this way! I take all the advice I've read on BYC about handling him and in my little fantasy world I believe there are more good days than bad now. My husband says he's just a rotten teenager and needs more time. My question is, how much time should I give him before trying to make a determination about keeping him? He doesn't even have big spurs yet. Thanks for indulging yet another rooster question!
