Hi all! I noticed my sweet speckled Sussex Mimi acting lethargic yesterday. She's still a pullet, around 28 weeks. She may have just started laying, we've gotten our first few eggs in the past week, but I've only seen one of her sisters in the nesting box so I'm not sure if she's joined the party yet. She's still eating and drinking, but laying down a lot throughout the day and closing her eyes. Same issues today, and I noticed she has some kind of growth or scab on her waddle. Has anyone dealt with something like this? I haven't seen any of the other girls pecking at her, so I haven't isolated her yet. I gave oher a syringe of poultry cell and an wondering if I should put some kind of antibiotic on it? Just looking for advice before I fork over money to the vet. Thanks y'all!

Poor thing! That looks so painful. No wonder she's feeling under the weather. I can't tell if it's an infected peck wound/mosquito bite, or some kind of boil/cyst. I personally would bring her into the vet, if only to get the appropriate treatment depending on what's causing that.

Do you have any Vetericyn spray? It's antimicrobial (with no antibiotics) and doesn't sting. That might help hold her over until you're able to get an appointment.
