hi i have six chickens. they free range in the day and in a ped in the evening or when no ones home. How much should i feed them i feed them pellets and have just been keeping it full for them but they seem to just eat it all in minites. Is it poss to over feed them.

How old are your chickens? What breeds? What kind of food are you feeding? It is possible to over feed, but chickens will generally self regulate their food intake. They won't eat until they die. Some people make food available for their chickens 24/7 and some people just feed them a measured amount once or twice a day. I'm not sure what the exact amount of food per bird per day is, but it's something like one cup.

My chickens and baby chicks have food 24/7. I do not limit feed. Mine know when to stop when they are full. I have not experienced any problems with having food and water available 24/7 and I have been having chickens for MANY years.

How big is your feeder? If your chickens are emptying it in minutes, I'd say you maybe need to get a bigger feeder.

Mine are free range as well. I feed mine a small amount in the late morning and another serving just before bed. I want them to run out of feed several times a day to keep them scrambling for the free stuff out in the yard. I always let them fill their crops well before bedtime. In the winter I let them have food all day since there's less available in the yard.
