I have 5 chickens that are around 3 months of age, they were on starter/grower but as of today just plain grower. I have always just guessed, but about how much should I be feeding them? Seems like they are eating a lot and always wanting more, they also free range a few hours every day.

They also get scraps daily.

Growing chicks are hard to say at x age they will eat y amount. There is some variance. Most just put a feeder out and don't sweat it while they are growing. If you want to find out weigh out two pounds in the morning. Then at night reweigh and see how much is eaten. At three months they will be increase the feed intake for a few more months. So that is just a snap shot of what they are eating at the moment.

I alway feed growing layers as much as they want to eat. Keep the feeder full and Don't limit them until they start laying. Once they're laying, limit feed to 4-6 oz per day. Hens in lay can over fatten, especially dual purpose breeds. Once they're too fat, they stop laying.

Let them have feed available at all times, so they can repeatedly fill their crops through the day. If you are concerned about squirrels, mice, and wild birds eating your feed you can get a treadle feeder, I have read.
