Sometimes I leave it open, but I still feel better closing it, just in case something would get in. I get up early, so I can open it when the sun comes up. The bottom 4 ft is actually wire racking with 2 x 4 openings,(got it real cheap from the Re-store) the whole thing is then covered in 1/2 x 1/2 HWC. I also have a HWC skirt around the run and HWC blocking all the way around the coop to the ground and out to make a skirt. The run is covered with polycarb panels. As long as they are in the coop and run nothing should get in fort knox. They are out free ranging all day on Sat and Sun usually and during the week late in the day.
One of these days I'll get a coop build page done. I still have to make windows, paint and finish a couple little things on it.
