How much will it cost?

Welcome back to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. When I built my present coop/run (easily big enough to handle 25 hens) plus the cost of the chicks (all pullets), plus the feed and supplies that I needed, I spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $2500.00. Of course, the coop and supplies (galvanized waterers, feeders, etc.) is a one time expense (at least until they rust out). Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your flock.

Keep checking Craig's list - often people decide they don't want chickens anymore and give them away with coop and feed. Maybe the birds won't be so great but, you may get eggs, and a coop to boot. At least it will help you determine if you really want to stay the course. If so you can work on improving/enlarging coop - adding or subtracting chickens and eventually have what you really want.
