We have chickens and guineas in the backyard and I'm thinking of having quail in the side yard, but my husband said that they are noisy. I can't imagine that those little birdies could possibly be as noisy as the guineas...

I have a rooster and a goose and have had quail and guineas. The quail make noises all the time but are quieter in my opinion that any of the other three even when crowing. And the noise they make is......Lovely.

If you have guineas in the back yard, you will never hear the quail in the side yard!!

You didnt say what kind of quail, but I feel coturnix are the loudest. The roos like to have crowing contest and always have trouble deciding who the winner is... Like has been said before, I find the quail sounds relaxing. Even more so if your used to listening to guineas!!!

Thanks! Relaxing??? Maybe I should put the quail in my garden yard near my bedroom window? There is nothing relaxing about a guinea! Buck Wheat! BUCK WHEAT!!!! BUCK WHEAT!!!

But when they are too quiet....I wonder whose house they are visiting?

Well, all EXCEPT the roo coturnix that is. I have wanted to choke one late at night. Yes, a coturnix roo will crow in the dark.... Bill

PROBABLY DOESNT COUNT AS RELAXING, BUT I DO GET A WICKED PLEASURE FROM GETTING THE "LEAD" JUST RIGHT ON 1 RUNNING... BUT I AM WARPED LIKE THAT
