ooh that is so funny! I love all your pictures and the mental image of a chicken running to a dirt pile after a bath like a horse is too funny... I know know what not to do when giving my chickens a bath!!!
I almost got a SSH but i backed out at the last moment.... now I wish i hadn't. Avalon is gorgeous.

Maybe soon you can order an SSH, because you're right, they add so much ornamental value to your flock. Avalon is possibly my prettiest, flashiest girl, not to mention that she's so tiny and cute weighing only 3 lbs,!

No, surprisingly! She's in about the middle of the pecking order, despite being both the smallest chick and pullet.

Glad to hear she fits in well. I've often thought about a smaller size bird because some of them are so pretty but wasn't sure how they would work with my big dual purpose gals.

I'm so sorry that I didn't see this before now!

She was about 3 days old here. I love fluffy chicks!

Since Avalon had a sore red spot on her beak that enticed the others to pick at it, I had to separate her for a while. She demanded that I carry her around all day in the baby sling, which ensured that we bonded. But now, the Hamburg side has kicked in, and she is extremely flighty and nervous. I still miss my affectionate girl.
