I realize there's no cure for peritonitis, but I have a hen that does well for a couple of months at a time, even lays a few eggs albeit with strange shells; then she gets sick again.
We are not yet ready to cull her. I'd just like to see if we can achieve some improvement with the PCN.

How often can I give her a dose?

Ut hum (No I'm am not shamelessly bumping my own thread)

Hold on, Kat, let me go take a look see around and see if I can find something for you.

Thank you my friend.

I just bought a huge bottle of Pen G at the feed store, expensive but it was all they had.

Anyone need a shot?

No thanks, Kat, I've got a HUGE bottle that would treat every chicken Pilgrim's Pride has in my fridge.

The feed store offered to get me a smaller bottle in, but I wanted to start treating the hen today. Gosh, I love our new feedstore!

I don't think so, Miss Lydia, I think you have to treat it as it flares up.

I have a hen who has had peritonitis for 20 months. Every 3-6 months it has flared up and I treat her with Baytril and probiotics. I am sure at some point we will need to put her down, but we have enjoyed the extra time with one of our favorite hens.
