How often can you give penicillin (for egg peritonitis)?

I realize there's no cure for peritonitis, but I have a hen that does well for a couple of months at a time, even lays a few eggs albeit with strange shells; then she gets sick again.
We are not yet ready to cull her. I'd just like to see if we can achieve some improvement with the PCN.

How often can I give her a dose?

The feed store offered to get me a smaller bottle in, but I wanted to start treating the hen today. Gosh, I love our new feedstore!

I have a question, once a hen gets peritonitis can she never completely be healed?

I have a hen who has had peritonitis for 20 months. Every 3-6 months it has flared up and I treat her with Baytril and probiotics. I am sure at some point we will need to put her down, but we have enjoyed the extra time with one of our favorite hens.
