How often do I need to add DE to the coop and run?

Just made my first application today. When will I need to do it again?

I toss some in my coop about once a month in the summer. Throw a handful of scratch on top and let the chickens mix the layers.

In my run, I do it once a week unless it rains really bad because that usually makes it stink more.
