How often do Silkies go broody?

Maybe she's weaning them early? My sister's silkie hen raised chicks up to 6 weeks old, & weaned them off her.

Well, they will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. They have been more independent than her previous Silkie babies, but I think she’s telling them she’s not momma anymore,

No, mine are definitely the bantam size. I've actually never seen a LF size in my area.

I also have hawk troubles. Bantam Silkies on my property, in free range, are simply hawk snacks as they waddle rather than run.

Mine are bantam size too. I thought they only have LF size in Europe

Well, soon Giant Silkies will be a new thing that may help. They'll be less vulnerable to predators.
Here's my F1 Project Giant Silkie cockerel.
He's Silkie X Brahma.

He's 17 inches tall so far, & very slow to grow.
