How often do you change nest bedding?

My coop with 2 laying hens and 2 nest boxes. I change bedding every 2 weeks.
My coop with 7 laying pullets and 3 nest boxes. I change weekly.
I change immediately if an egg breaks.
I change the bedding in my small coops weekly. If nest material is clean it goes onto floor of coop.
My nests are accessible from outside the coops, so are easy to clean, unless occupied. 20181110_101340.jpg . GC

I use excelsior nesting pads and they seem to last forever. I'll shake them out every so often or remove the occasional dropping. Unless an egg breaks, I usually switch them out every 6 months or so and throw the old ones in the compost.

I use straw and only change it out if I get a broken egg....
.... or when it starts to 'thin out', timing of which often depends on quality of straw.
Overall, maybe 3 to 6 times a year.

I use something that is sorta like turf in my nesting boxes. About once every 1 or 2 weeks I take them out and shake off any pine shavings or poop that got on them. Then I put them back in the nesting box.
