How often do you handle your baby chicks?

Either myself or daughters handle our chicks every day. There are varying degrees of tameness though, ranging from super tame to some real flighty banties.

Hey all, we have two wonderful chicks right now, one we think is an Orp but we're not sure. Have no idea about the other yet...

The "Orp" will run up to the hand and all that but does go ballistic when held most of the time. It is disheartening but he will eat of my hand and come up to me...so it could just be a holding thing. The other chick is a little more laid back. Not exactly rolling in your hands but not running away either. I will say that food does wonders.

Several times a day. There is no over - handleing. the more you handle the more prone they are to grow up calmer , and nicer and not aggresive towards humans

when my flock were day old babys we handled them all the time. no too much, but alot. and now at week 10, they're friendly, and tame, you can walk up to one and pet it all that good stuff :]

This is my first hatch so a toal newbie but I have been picking mine up every day....Hopefully all of them lol! I take 4 at a time in a warm tea towel and sit with them for 10 min or so. I have made an effort to handle the sher ones more frequently. I am hoping this will make for tamer chooks but only time will tell! Will let you know how they get on
