How often should I be socializing them?

I've been taking my pullets (Americana and Rhode Island Red) out in intervals, fifteen to twenty minutes of play, holding and petting then two hours or so back in the brooder for napping, eating and drinking.
Is that too much? They really don't seem to mind and I do raise the room temperature up for them. I've read you should try to socialize them early and frequently but am I over doing it?

Another question, the Americana pullet is turning out to be the bravest and most curious thing ever. She examines everything close up without fear, pecks and jumps everywhere too. I've found her on my head somehow! She even chases after my fingers when I wiggle them and we starting to play tag. Are all Americanas like this? Do they continue to act so into maturity? Or am I just lucky? Haha.

Thanks in advance folks, sorry if my questions are a bit dull. Like many others Im just starting out.

Sounds like you're a good chicken Mommy! Arn't they great fun!

Oh gosh they are! Today they met my male dog (gentle baby face boy), they jumped on his head while he sat there very content with his new chicky friends.
They were all very closely supervised mind you but my boy is such a ham.

Congrats on the baby Fuzzy Butts! They are wonderful. The more they are handled the better they will be when placed in the pin. You are doing great! They will let you know when its too much and they have had enough. They are impressionable at very early age. They prolly already think of you as mom. Food, water, warmth, protection, and love=MOMMY!!!!!

Good Luck and God Bless!

Then Ill keep up the playtime!
The little Red is certainly turning into a Moms girl, she could sit in my arms all day.

Hi ! Great job socializing your babies:thumbsup
When mine got older, I re-inforced their names (yes, I named them all, they know their names, and come when I call them) with mini animal crackers as treats. Every time I would give one a treat, I would say their name. This really helps if you are going to free range, and need to get them back in their run/coop ;o)

My "Ameraucana" Rebecca - really an EE - was the most curious and "bondable" in the brooder. Once they were outside full-time, she became less attached to me, and now my Cuckoo Marans is the first to jump in my lap. But Rebecca is still friendlier than anybody but Bernadette and Matilda (the Black Australorp). Those 3 are the ambassadors of the flock, always curious as to what I'm doing, and very frequently sitting in my lap, or on the arms or back of the chair in which I take my breaks inside the chicken run.

Just wait till they get bigger! They be jumping in you lap! We love ours, we go outside, they come running! They like jumping in our laps, or shoulders! They're so rotten!

They seem so flighty I just get worried Im doing something wrong, do they become more secure as they grow some?
