How often should I clean my coop?

You don't have to explain. I understand that on the outside a lot of times people don't know what's going on inside others lives. Trust me, I KNOW this. :hu  It's like if someone is driving slow in front of you, they may have a small donut type spare tire that isn't safe at higher speeds and be on their way to the tire shop, for example. So I try to give the benefit of the doubt and in return don't suffer from road rage. ;)

If you want to explain and get something off your chest, I'm all ears. :hugs  We all need some support sometimes. I didn't mean any judgement, rudeness or harshness. I am a caring person, not a creeper!

Whatever it is you got going on today, hope it goes well!
Thank you! If it's alright I may PM you later.

I clean mine under the roosts at least once a week, but with 8 birds you may want to do it daily. Our 4 chickens are free range and don't spend much time in there. So the other areas don't need to be changed often.. My advice is if it begins to smell, clean it out.

No problem.

As a suggestion, if you have any sort of building plan you might look for free materials on Craigslist. Old fencing is good wood usually, even though it requires more work maybe taking it apart & removing nails.

However, your safety is most important! Don't do anything Craigslist related without back up from your parents or other trusted person.

Also, I could probably help you come up with other money saving ideas.

Maybe look into fermented feed for your chickens. It takes me a couple minute a day and has been reported to save 30 to 50% by increasing nutritional absorption there by reducing consumption and reducing waste. As a side effect, poos are often more solid with only every 10th or so being the grosser ones, which to me decreases the amount of cleaning because they are a lot easier to scoop. And even though they still smell like poo, they are way less stinky then when I was feeding dry feed. Win, Win and it's really easy to do.

Ok thanks I'm not sure what that is or if my local feed store has it but I will look into it. Can you describe it more and where and how much it is?

Never mind lol I think I might no what it is lol umm... do you have anyways of making money rather than saving money because my parents will find out it I change food and start making my own. I want to surprise my parents and give them money! They would be sooooo happy and then we could maybe use that money and a little on the side and buy a new she'd so the chickens could have a whole she'd to themselves and my dad could have a whole she'd to himself he wouldn't have to share with my girls! Lol great ideas help me stay positive! :) Thank you soo much for helping anyway, I'm sorry you don't have to help
