ACV is supposed to be great in keeping their digestive system healthy and bolstering their immune system, I don't believe, at least I don't have any reason to believe, that it specifically prevents cocci, although a stronger immune system certainly can't hurt. I am fairly new, but I have done a ton of research on the benefits of ACV. It's something I swear by, and drink myself and also give it to our dogs.
For the chicks, I started giving it to them at about 4 weeks, though you can start earlier. I put it in their water every other day. I give one tspn to every quart, but I'm pretty sure that if you asked 10 different people you would probably get at least 5 different amounts.
However, be advised, there is no concrete evidence that says ACV is good for poultry. You will find there are probably just as many sources that say ACV has no positive benefits as you will sources saying it is great for chickens.
So, it's really up to you. Clearly, it can't hurt your chickens, because most of the people I've talked to, that use ACV in their chickens' water, have reported very healthy chickens.
