Sorry to post a question that I'm sure has been posted a thousand times, but Search isn't giving me useful results.
We have 6 chicks. The first few days we had them in a small brooder on paper towel, and we changed the paper towel two or three times a day.
Now they are in a 3' x 6' pen. They have clean food and water. We have them on corn cob litter (nice stuff, but very expensive). My wife and I are debating how often the litter needs to be changed (at $10 per change). She's worried about disease.
There's no smell, and it doesn't even look messy. I say the corn cobs can go a couple of weeks. Especially if we pick out some of the mess.
Opinions?
