Look at the antenna on the fly and then look at the antenna on your bees. You know what, I think you're correct. I just thought it was one of the older bees. Didn't really look at it that close. Thanks!

Yes, I see what you're saying. Thank you for pointing that out. It's amazing how many different insects there are. We have really become aware of how many different pollinators we have in our area. They are all over the flowers in our yard. I had never really paid that much attention before.Look at the antenna on the fly and then look at the antenna on your bees.
After catching our swarm we needed to get some new deeps and supers. My husband decided to build some instead of buying. So we went to town and stopped by Lowe's. They had the below stack of cull lumber listed at $68. We could see that it had cedar and also redwood lumber in it. I went inside to buy it and it wound up costing us a little over $37. They reduced it to 90% off. Best lumber deal we've ever gotten. Such a wonderful gift. God is so good.
We had enough cedar to build 5 deeps, 3 supers and a screened bottom board. You can see the 1st deep and bottom board he built last week on our swarm hive. I will be coating them all in wax.

Bees are so resourceful. When we moved the swarm into the new deep, just 2 days after catching it, we could see that they had already built out enough new comb and the queen was already laying eggs...truly amazing.
New deep & screened bottom board with a top feeder in place.

Thanks. Wasn't that amazing. A lot of it is mostly unusable, but we definitely got more than our money's worth. We always check for scrap lumber.Congrats on that awesome lumber price!
