Hi guys!
I heard you were supposed to bleach the waterers and feeders, is that correct? And if so, how often? We're probably using a milk jug for a feeder and one of those metal or plastic thingys from TSC for a waterer.

I rinse the waterers off every day before refilling them. Twice a week I clean them well with hot soapy water & a scrubby sponge. The feeders get completely emptied & washed once a week. (I've got them mounted to the wall so they stay pretty clean).
Then again, I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't use any chemicals unless I absolutely have to......

i clean mine every other day, I keep a spray bottle that has bleach in it, i spray down the the food and water containers and let them set for a couple min's
and rinse really good.

plus i use apple cider vinegar with mother in it, I put in 1 tablespoon for every gallon of water, to keep the slim down on the waters, and give the chickens extra vit's

Have a 5 gallon waterer and they flock empties it in about 36 hours.

I take a hose with a good pressure nozzle on it and clean it with my hands.

So far so good, no slime or bad looking/smelling water.

The feed hangers never get cleaned unless the girls poop on them which is pretty rare.

I prefer white vinegar to clean my waterers, it's the same thing I do for the hummingbird feeders.

I don't use soap because of possible residue.

I don't use bleach because it's hard to rinse off.

White vinegar works great and rinses really well.

The waterers get rinsed every day and when they start to look yucky, they get a major scrubbing.
