How often to feed ducks.................

For pet ducks that you don't care about growing out quickly, you can feed them 3 or 4 times a day and they'll be fine. That's what I prefer, because I don't want them to grow super fast. My goal is longevity. I'm really careful about not letting any of my animals get fat, though. I think you'll be fine either way. Do whatever works best for you. As long as they are growing and not getting too fat, they'll be OK.

If you do it this way, you'll still get consistent egg production right?

It doesn't make sense to me that you'd have to have food always in front of them. Humans do that and they survive right?

My ducks have food out in daylight hours and they are not over weight. But they do get a lot of exercise. Also the breed of ducks can be a factor I have Muscovy which aren’t as active as my Runners. They all free feed during the day that doesn’t mean they are standing at the feeders continually eating it just means they eat when hungry. Runners use a lot of energy running up An down the back hill on their property. I don’t think there is one sure fire way to feed it’s every owner and what their setup is. Having birds penned all day I’d say they will eat and gain Weight because they aren’t getting exercise. Which is very important. Those of us who can let our birds out on property all day Aren’t going to have that problem of over weight ducks unless we’re feeding junk. I rest my case! ;)
