how oftenly do i need to worm my hens

Glad I finished my lunch before looking at this thread! I worm my flock twice a year, I use Flubenvet as there is no egg withdrawal needed. I read in an article that if the poop is a strong yellow colour it can be a sign of worms. There are a lot of wild birds where I live and they often come and finish off any food the chickens have missed and also share the water dishes.

I have no idea why, but Flubenvet is not available in the USA. I wish it was!

the stuff is spendy(might be worth the cost) it's been around 15 years or so?, like to hear from others too who use it pros and cons??

Yellow foamy color could possibly mean blackhead. Blackhead is a protozoa that is carried by the cecal worm. So yes, it could mean cecal worms infesting a chicken.

Flubenvet is a good wormer. However it must be measured into chicken feed by weight and the average weight of the birds if I'm not mistaken. It's better and cheaper to use a liquid wormer given orally such as safeguard liquid goat wormer or valbazen, no guesswork neither.

I think you can give them pumpkin seeds as treats, and a substance in the seeds paralyzes parasites so they can be excreted

You guys are totally grossing me out! I've always wormed my chickens every winter, but I would love to not do that (not thrilled with any chems at all, especially ones I might ingest at some point). Can I just do my own rough fecal now and then?
