How old and what breeds are these guys?

But theirs has black specks so I'm not sure what that means.
It kind of looks like mud, because I only see the spots are mainly on her lower back/tail.

(My bantam Cochin holly used to look solid red, but as she got older, she started getting lighter highlights for some odd reason.)
 
Why not? We’ve always fed that to our whole flock which has always included a rooster.
Because over the long term, it will damage his kidneys and can cause articular gout.
There are also many times when a pullet/hen does not need all that excess calcium either.
 
Because extra calcium is added to layer feed, this is to help the hens with their egg production which obviously males and other non layers do not need. It can cause them health issues as described earlier.If you give them an “all flock” type of feed, this is great for all kinds of birds and ages. The laying hens will then eat the extra calcium in the form of oyster shell for example, on their own as their bodies need it.😊
