How old are Barred Rocks when they start laying?

Okie, he's very handsome, but are you sure of his breed? The black sexlink roosters look very much like that-are there any greenish feathers in his tail? No matter, he's a nice-looking boy!

......he has no green or colored feathers at all..........so ???

Thanks Roo............ come to think of it speckled........he came with a group of 4 hens and I remember the lady saying some were his kids.......um........2 are rock looking.one is blacksex link and the other a white rock.or so I was told?

Dunno! Once I knew a lady who had what she was positive was a Barred Rock and he had almost white hackles and his son was even whiter. He could have something else in his ancestry back down the line or just not have very good barring. Believe me, the hatcheries sometimes turn out some not-so-great Barred Rocks. I have one BR hen who looks just like a Cuckoo Maran and even for that breed, her barring wouldnt be good!
Go to Feathersite and look at the Black Sexlink roosters there and you'll see what I mean-they can look almost exactly like a Barred Rock since their mother was a BR, but usually get a greenish or bluish tailfeather that gives it away.
